Greetings, all!
While at GAMA this week, a retailer asked about the future of collectible card games such as Spellfire. Before news of what was said leaks out, I wanted to let everyone know what was really said. ;-)
We started the classic card game program as a way to reward players of our classic games that weren't being actively supported any longer. VTES, Netrunner, Battle Tech, and Spellfire were all scheduled to be part of the program. Netrunner came out first. Our total sales were: $819.00. We expected Netrunner to be one of our more popular classic games, and its resounding failure has caused us to rethink the strategy. Vince Calouri, the CEO of Wizards, said that he didn't expect to see any more classic game offerings. He didn't mention Spellfire by name.
Thus, everything right now is pretty much as it has been. There's no booster on the current schedule, nor are there any immediate plans for one. I know that there are plans for a Crossfire booster, so we're going to have to make by with that right now. Who knows what the future will hold...
Good Gaming!
